How often does the first snow happen to fall on a day when I've already planned to be at home staring out the window all day? Not often, but I had my time all set aside to watch it come down today while I wrapped my arms around my children and wrapped us all in a big blanket so we could watch it snow. Last year was a complete but on snowy weather, but this year I think we're in for a double portion. I didn't join them when they ran out to throw this wet crunchy snow at each other--I'm just not ready for that-- but the day passed so slowly in each other's quiet company that it felt like a little retreat from the busy world.
