The Way of the Princess

Princess Highway is an unusual name, but there's no denying their clothes are absolutely adorable.  You know I proceed with caution when trying out a new shop, so on this purchase, I only ordered a couple of things and now I wish I'd gotten a few more.  I love the dress I ordered and this cute cat top.  The top runs a little on the short side, but the fit (I ordered a size 6 and wear a 0 or XS in US sizes) is purrfect and is this print!

Camp Wander

Yay!  Karina's Megan dress is back in Cranberry Dots!  I adore this dress.  It's perfect for the changing season.

Set About Your Work

As much as I wanted to wait for all ModCloth's amazing holiday bargains, I just couldn't take a chance on this little beauty selling out, so I bought it in advance and it was totally worth it.  Such a classic piece, perfect for work, play or a party.    I'm glad I didn't wait.

Coffee Break

    I cut caffeine from my diet about 15 years ago and never looked back.  But, I still enjoy a daily decaf tea or coffee.  My favorites are Twinings Irish Breakfast Tea, Twinings English Breakfast Tea and of course Starbuck's decaf coffee.  I also cut sugar from my diet ever so long ago, I've found that sugar is unnecessary.  I enjoy my tea and coffee with just a little cream and the richness of their natural flavors.  That warmth that permeates the morning chill is crucial on a day like this.  

    The mornings are meeker now, the sunrise just a little dimmer as autumn gives way to winter, but the holiday shopping season is upon us and I have to get out and walk from store to store at least once per season.  I know that it's far easier to stay at home and browse the web for bargains, but there's something to be said for the social aspect of shopping with friends, chatting with store staff and other shoppers, and of course no delayed gratification of having to wait for weeks for my items to arrive like there is with online shopping.  I can take all my gifts come right home and wrap them up.  Of course, there are also no crowds or rude sales staff when shopping online, but when that happens, it's time to step back a little bit, pause, and enjoy a coffee break.

First Snow

How often does the first snow happen to fall on a day when I've already planned to be at home staring out the window all day?  Not often, but I had my time all set aside to watch  it come down today while I wrapped my arms around my children and wrapped us all in a big blanket so we could watch it snow.  Last year was a complete but on snowy weather, but this year I think we're in for a double portion.  I didn't join them when they ran out to throw this wet crunchy snow at each other--I'm just not ready for that-- but the day passed so slowly in each other's quiet company that it felt like a little retreat from the busy world.

 The thing about a great dress is that is should work in lots of outfits and for lots of different occasions.  This is one of those dresses!  It has the classic style that works at casual events as well as dressier occasions, and it has a wonderful color palette that naturally lends itself to many combinations. So, after nearly three years, this dress is still going strong.
