Mad About Plaid

Sometimes I get a little obsessed.  It will suddenly occur to me that I don't have a certain thing in my wardrobe and the search begins.  Then I end up with ten of whatever it is before I can come to my senses.  It seems that 2014 was just my year to buy plaids and checks.
I'll start with the newest (and hopefully last for a while) addition to my plaid collection.  It's my first Bernie Dexter dress and it's definitely a holiday dress.  It will be a challenge to wear in spring and summer, so this one may do a lot of sitting on the shelf.

 Saturday Night Pin-Up
dress in black tartan.  This dress was also briefly available on ModCloth as the Pretty as a Rose dress.

I found this beauty on Ebay for only $25!  It was missing the belt and had been worn once, but I added my own vintage black leather belt.

Emily and Fin is one of my favorite brands.  This plaid lovely is the Too Much Fun style.  These dresses usually run a little large and even going down a size when I ordered, I still had extra room.
...and as soon as it arrived I had a flash back my elementary school days  and seeing all my teachers wearing something very similar to this dress....Oh well, I've decided to embrace it!
With a more mellow approach to plaid, Emily and Fin's Day Trip Darling dress has a simple blue and white color scheme.  Here again, even going down a size I still have lots of room.

This dress is a little difficult to accessorize.  I usually pair it with a dark blue or black jacket and burgundy flats.

I do appreciate how this dress can be worn casual with a cardi and flats or dressed up with heels and chunky jewelry.
Except for a couple of scarves and a top or two, I've discontinued my plaid search...for now.  But here are a few lovely pieces I wouldn't mind owning if they happen to go on sale....*grins sheepishly
