Sometimes I just need to get away and it doesn't take an expensive trip to an exotic location. Sometimes, I just need an hour or two holed up in my room. To that end, I've done a little inexpensive redecorating by getting a new duvet cover and shams. It cost less than $30 to give my room a new look. I also did quite a bit of cleaning out, throwing away, vacuuming, and dusting in preparation for my room make over.
Honestly, a good cleaning job is sometimes enough to make a room look made-over, but I wanted everything to feel fresh, peaceful, and relaxing to help me mentally beat the heat this summer. Sometimes it's nice to just lock my door with a good book and a frou-frou drink complete with little umbrella so I can escape. Two weeks in the Caribbean would be nice, but a few hours in my flamingo themed room with my favorite book will suffice for now.
