Sidecca Nautical Sailboat Dress Review

Everyone is finally feeling better and I'm excited to get back to blogging.  This little dress arrived while I was on the mend and I had the opportunity to wear it on a lovely sunny day.
I often go to this little place on amazon.com called Ruby's Red Ribbon Sidecca to see if I can find a bargain and I usually do.   They carry a great selection of novelty purses and vintage style dresses like this one for much less than you would pay at other places. This little nautical dress caught my eye and it was a tough decision if I should order it in blue or peach, but I'm glad I chose blue.  And now for the review.
Pros:  This dress has a great print and a flattering cut, plus it comes with the white belt.
Cons:  It's polyester, not cotton, so it will be hot for summer wear.  This dress is short!  I probably won't wear it much without shorts or capri leggings underneath.  Consider sizing up; I normally wear an extra small, but I took a chance since only small was available and it is a bit snug in the waist.  The buttons are for show; it has an open neck and a side zipper.  The only other con is that I'm not crazy about the epaulets on the shoulders.
I know that seems like a lot of cons, but overall I'm pretty happy with the dress.  It cute and was inexpensive and the fact that it arrived in just 6 business days is really awesome!  This isn't my first order from Ruby's and it definitely won't be my last.
There was one beautiful day this week, the first in weeks and probably the last for weeks.  My husband had the day off, so we decided to head down to the little park near our house.  There are many lovely, secluded spots here that I haven't really taken advantage of, so I hope to come back for more photos in the coming weeks.

  1. How funny! I used to be a store manager for one of their now closed locations. They are actually opening a new store in my town in the next couple weeks and I am planning to go to their other location tomorrow! Such a small world!

  2. Personally it is a little too short for my taste, however the print is just so quirky and adorable, the price is temptingly affordable and I love how you paired it with the red cardigan!

  3. Wow, I didn't know they had brick and mortar stores. That's pretty cool. I like this place because they carry a lot of stuff that ModCloth does too, but usually for about $20 less.

  4. Yes, this dress is a bit short for my taste as well. I commented to my husband as we were leaving the park that this will probably be the only time I wear this dress without leggings. There's just not quite enough coverage for my comfort :)
