Some Deserted Island

Where do you go to get away from it all?  Do you have some secret escape?
I think we all need a place to be away from the world.  I prefer to be out in nature with only the sounds of the wind and the water.
Things have been more than a little stressful for more than a little while across many spheres of my life (I know we're all feeling it) and I need a little time to hide away.
I don't have to go far and I don't have to stay long, just long enough to get some peace and refocus instead of letting the chaos overwhelm me.
Without this sort of break, it's too easy to become caught up in silly drama stirred up by silly people who don't have enough purpose in their lives.  I find myself staying angry all the time unless I can get away from it all for a few minutes to see it clearly.
To truly get that sort of perspective, I do have to leave social media behind.  Everyone yelling over lots of things that don't matter and a few that do, but aren't changed by exchanging nasty comments with people.
Do you see this gorgeous wilderness behind me?  Do you know how much time the birds and foxes and rabbits spend arguing about politics?  Do you know how much time they spend playing candy crush, gossiping about their neighbors or tattling to the boss?
That's right, the answer is none and yet they seem to get along perfectly fine without any of that mess.  They're busy caring about what truly matters--feeding their families (trying not to be the food for someone else's family) and living in the world.  Sounds pretty good to me--except for the fear of being eaten; I'll pass on that one.
So, for a few hours today, I'm going to just sit back on my tiny little deserted island in the stream and enjoy the simplicity of the world again.
