Playing with colors and prints today, I bought this yellow raincoat for my trip to Iceland and it got a lot of wear in that short week. I still use it now and then, not just for rainy days, but also when I just need a little more color in my day. I love bright colors and mixing prints.
It's funny how we dress for the way we live, or want to live. My wardrobe has changed not just the job do, but also with the places I've lived and the people in my life. In Japan I had to dress to be ready to walk in all weather. In the Pacific Northwest, it was mainly about wearing warm layers and having an umbrella handy at all times.
Now I'm rarely out in the elements unless I'm home on the farm and it's so easy to make an outfit change to accommodate whatever situation arises, that I rarely think too much about what I'll wear each day anymore.
It's nice to have the experience at planning to be out in all the elements, but it's even better to have the freedom to wear whatever and be totally fine. Although I do always bring a coat with me in the cold months, because you never know when you'll have car trouble and have to walk to get help, I don't carry an umbrella and this raincoat spends more time on the hanger than I'd like.
I brought it out today for a little stroll on this windy spring morning and turns out it's not just handy for those impromptu spring showers that can make walking around the shops a little unpleasant, but it makes a great wind breaker too.
