How to Use Your Selkie Points

If you're a devotee of Selkie, you may remember that they started awarding points with every purchase about a year ago.  I love getting a little something back on sites where I'm a regular and when it comes to Selkie, I make a purchase at least every 3 months and sometimes more often as the new collections release.  So, I've been collecting my rewards points on each purchase, and I get the occasional email when I have earned more points that notifies me of my current total.  What I haven't seen is an option to spend those points on a purchase.

Searching on Selkie's site, including the FAQs didn't yield any results on how to actually use them.  If you're in the same boat, then wonder no more.  Thanks to advice from fellow Selks, I have compiled a step-by-step instructional for you so you can use all those points you've been collecting.

Step 1.  Login to your account.  You can't use your points if you aren't signed in.

Step 2.  Shop as usual.  This is the fun part where you pick out the things you like, add them to your cart and then prepare yourself for the not so fun part of seeing how much your dreamy dresses are going to cost you by hitting the "Checkout" button.

Step 3.  From the checkout screen you will click on the little bag with a heart next to it that's been floating in the bottom right hand corner this whole time but you probably didn't notice it.  This will tell you how many points you have earned and it will take you to a screen that will ask you if you want to redeem them for a dollar value.  If you choose to redeem them, you will get a coupon code which you will enter into the promo code section during checkout.  Be advised you can likely not stack promo codes, so make sure you can't get a better deal with a promo code before you use your points.

That's it.  So simple, and yet, it took me forever to figure out how it works.  This may come as a surprise to you, and it certainly did to me, but so far I have not yet earned enough points to make it worth it to spend them over just using a promo code for 10% off a regular purchase.  So, I'll just keep saving them up for a while yet.  After all, the spring launch is just around the corner.
I hope this has clarified things for you and with that spring launch coming up that you either get to use or get to save up some more points for future use.  Happy Shopping!

Cherry-O!

Animals never cease to amuse me.  You're never alone if you live on a farm...even when you really want to be alone.  There are times when I want a quiet, solitary walk to process my thoughts, but there is no such thing on a farm.  Each time I venture out for a walk the dog and at least one or two cats follow and occasionally a chicken or two comes along.  The most likely reason they come with me is that they think I'm leading them to food, but I like to think it's because they like spending time with me.

Today I wasn't out walking alone, actually I had both my girls along to play photographer for me.  We went to my parents' farm on a sunny afternoon when school let out and I brought along the tripod and set up the shots while they stood in for me and then they'd switch with me to press the button.  It worked well and they were great help with very little complaining.  But, of course the animals had to come with us and this very old dog, Bruno, who first wandered onto this farm when my girls were just learning to toddle, couldn't resist bombing a photo or two.  I had to designate one daughter as the animal wrangler and of course Bruno didn't mind because it meant lots of dedicated attention.  Another dog came along too, but she's more independent and stayed busy chasing various things until it was time to go home.  Her name is Dot or Deedee or something...we've never really connected because I find her annoying...and so does Bruno.

Sakura Season At Last

The cherry blossoms have finally budded in our neighborhood and this brief and beautiful week is cause for a nationwide celebration as people everywhere take an afternoon with friends and co workers to sit beneath the trees and drink in the beauty of the sakura.  We decided to make the trek up to Sakurayama, Cherry Blossom Hill, to enjoy our afternoon and it did not disappoint.  I'm hoping to venture out to a few more spots this week before the blossoms fade away for another year.  I'm wearing my new ChicWish Dress (review to be posted tomorrow) and it elicited quite a few stares.  Color seems to be a very scary thing to most people here, so I expected some sideways glances.  It's ok, I love my dress and I'm going to wear it as much as possible.

Believe it or not this is only two thirds of the entire staircase to the top of Sakurayama and I ended up walking it three times.
