Billion Dollar Dress

Well named, StopStaring!, I do feel like a billion dollars in this dress.  It is such a perfect fit, and this sleek material give a flattering silhouette.  When I ordered my Navy blue Railene dress, I got it in a size small because that's all that was available on Poshmark.  Since it's a pencil wiggle dress I guessed that my hips would need a little more room and I was right, the size small is perfect for me in that style.  But with this dress, I ordered my usual XS and it is a perfect, and I mean a truly perfect fit.  I cannot wait to wear this dress everywhere!
For a while now, I've been working on doing a double victory roll hairstyle, but I am really awful at hair.  I mean really awful.  It's mainly the symmetry that throws me.  I can usually get one side of my hair to look perfect and the other is anywhere from slightly mismatched to a total mess.  Today I was determined to get two rolls and I think I did a pretty good job.  It's not perfect and I did try to make it look deliberately asymmetrical, but I'm happy with the outcome.  For the sides and back, I wrapped a piece of felt around a thin headband to create a full roll.  Then I put the headband on, covered it up with the victory rolls, and rolled the remaining hair around the band and the felt.  I have videos of it all and one day I'm going to sit down and go through the boring process of learning to use video editing software so I can post them here.

Dino Darling

I have so many beautiful dresses that I can afford to be picky about what I buy now.  I really only buy things that are so unusual that I have to take a second and third look at it.  Such was the case with this Dinosaur Land Cap Sleeve dress from Unique-Vintage.  Growing up, there was actually a Dinosaur Land a few hours from my home and it was so cheesy and awful.  They had a couple of huge cement statues of dinos and a VW Bus with dinos painted on it, plus a gift shop, of course.  As a teenager, we stopped there once or twice on a road trip just to be silly and then after years away, we were driving through the area last month and saw that Dinosaur Land was no more.  It has gone the way the real dinosuars and is now extinct.  Very sad.   So, here's to you Dino Land.

Knitted Dove Thrift Shop

It's not often that I find my favorite brands and styles locally; the internet is basically the only place I can get the styles I love and in my size.  So, imagine my sheer delight when I found this beautiful Knitted Dove swan dress at my local thrift shop!  I'm so excited to have found this dress for only $20.  It makes me glad to know that there is some other fashion lover around here who loves what I love.

April Showers

You already know the old adage, but I don't want to wait for May, I'm ready for blossoms now.  I found this gorgeous floral Asos dress at ThredUp, but not to worry, ASOS has plenty of florals flor-all.

Texture, Print, Sparkle

There are things we can add to every outfit to take it to the next level.  I wish I could say these are my tips, but I learned them years ago watching What Not To Wear, a show I still miss.  Don't get me wrong, I know Clinton's Happy on the The Chew and Stacey's doing fine solo on Love, Lust or Run, but I miss them as a dynamic duo.  Regardless of where life has taken my fashion mentors, I learned quite a lot from them and this outfit is my tribute to them.  Rather than just a skirt, I chose a bold print.  Then, instead of a neutral black top, I chose one with sequins to give it that sparkle and finally, I chose this ruffled cardigan rather than a plain one and I am pretty happy with the results.  This could easily have been a bland combo, but adding pieces that each contained one of the three key elements (texture, print, and sparkle) brought so much pizazz to the whole look.  Thanks Stacey and Clinton.  I heart you.

Come Sail Away

So, I know it's April Fool's, but this dress is no joke.  Voodoo Vixen,  who doesn't love them?  I think they're pretty awesome and I bought this sailor dress last year, but I've been waiting for the weather to warm up so I could go to the lake for pics.  No luck on the weather, but I decided to don this dress anyway.  I'm tired of waiting.

Pretty in Pink

In case you're wondering, the answer is yes, redheads can wear pink and yes, Molly Ringwald's character totally ruined that gorgeous vintage dress and turned it into a formless 80s monstrosity-- a crime for which there is no punishment great enough.  All that aside, I still dig this pretty pink stripe Hamilton dress from UV, so much so that I just bought it in blue.

Ticket to Ride

Finally!  I've been drooling over this Bernie Dexter for over a year, heck, maybe two years! and just when it looked like it was sold out a miracle happened.  Ok, maybe not a miracle.  Unique-Vintage had a few technical difficulties and when they got their site up and running again, they did the classiest thing possible and offered a generous discount as an apology for the delays and confusion.  Suddenly this dress was back, and it was on sale, and I had this discount code, so I finally was able to bring it home.  I knew just where to go for pics too.  This little driveway, not far from my house has the most lovely yellow shrubs in bloom right now, so I stopped by on my way to work to snap a few pics.  And by the way, I'd like to thank you, yes, you---person reading this---for sharing these exciting fashion triumphs with me.  I don't have any real live people who care about this stuff the way that I do, so I'm glad that you're here.
