The Girly Girl at Work

Office wear can be rather dull--usually neutral and boxy--but that doesn't have to be the case.  I truly believe that a woman can be intelligent, taken seriously, and still dress in a feminine way.  It's OK to be a brainiac and a girly girl.  When you feel amazing, you're going to feel more confident and be more effective at your job.  Last week I bought this floofy pink tutu skirt from Chicwish and decided to turn it into office wear.
I've been drooling over this skirt for two years or more.  I wanted it so bad!  But, I waited.  And waited, and waited.  The main reason was that a friend of mine hated it.  I mean really hated it.  You would think by now I'd have enough confidence to ignore it, but I always take other people's opinions into consideration when I'm making any decision, especially if it's someone I've known forever and trust with just about anything...except fashion.  We differ sharply there but I still mull over the things she says and in this case, I mulled her opinion over for two years, before I finally made up my mind and bought this skirt.
The question I have to answer now is--to where will I wear this marvelous skirt?  Well, I have three outfits in mind and I'll be revealing the other two later in the season when it gets a little warmer, but for now the main event in my life is work and what better test of an item than to make it into office wear.  Now, of course, when in doubt, the number one rule is always be appropriate.  I wouldn't recommend this particular outfit for someone who works at a daycare, restaurant, or the ICU at a hospital, but for lots of other office work, this seems rather fun and daring.
So, I took a typical office top in this Peter Pan collar XXI blouse and a chambray blazer and of course some comfortable heels to go along with my pink frou-frou skirt and I'm all set to head to the office for what promises to be an anything-but-boring-kind-of-day.
