This is the season of purple flowers. You've probably seen them no matter where you live, they're extremely common. So common, in fact that not even the most knowledgeable flower lovers in my life have ever known their names. This year the fields are full of them once again and I decided it was time to learn their name. It's Henbit, in case you're wondering and the less lovely variety has an even less lovely name of Purple deadnettle. No, they don't sound grand, and when you see them sparsely clump in a yard or sidewalk crack, they don't look very grand either, but when they come together it is quite a sight to behold. Last year I was gifted with some lovely vintage fabric and this Gunne Sax Purple Floral was my absolute favorite. I made it in February and have held onto until the time when the purple flowers bloomed and it was well worth the wait to wear this dress in this uncommonly beautiful field of flowers.
