There's this antiquated thinking out there that most of us were raised with about saving all of our nicest and best things for special occasions--the beautiful dress that's only for fancy evenings, the delicate china that's to be reserved for important company, the restrictions against food in certain rooms so that nothing spills and ruins the new carpet or couch. You may have noticed this way of thinking and chances are you've engaged in it yourself from time to time.
We've all got our things that we desperately want to preserve in a state of perfection, but what really happens more often than not is that those beloved items sit gathering dust and eventually break down from lack of use, fade or stretch from sitting too long, or stop fitting our bodies, lifestyles, or trends while they're waiting for their moment to shine. Why?
All of this comes from a bygone era in which the average person only had one set of clothes for everyday (and I do mean they wore the same clothes every single day) and one set of clothes for Sundays and every other special occasion. That was it. It made sense to save that set of clothes, because if they didn't they would very soon have nothing but stained, thread bare, worn out clothes, and so it makes perfect and practical sense to save the best of everything. What doesn't make sense is to continue that mindset today.
Many of us today struggle with body image issues. We feel the pressure to conform to certain standards for body and beauty that are set by no one even knows. We're uncomfortable in our own skin. We're afraid to wear anything that will draw attention to us and we fear that such attention will reveal our insecurities to the world.
Not only that, but it can be difficult to find clothing that makes us feel lovely let alone truly stunning, but such clothing is most definitely out there and finding a dress that makes you feel the way you were meant to feel in a dress, is a pretty special occasion and something that I think deserves to be celebrated as often as possible.
Dresses are the epitome of feminine fashion and when I find a great style with colors that I love, I tend to get one of each, because you can never have too many clothes that look great on you and make you feel amazing like this bodycon dress from FemmeLuxeFinery. If you're the kind of woman who dreads bodycon dresses, please don't. There are some extremely flattering styles out there and FemmeLuxeFinery has them. One of my very favorites is this Angelica dress; I love what it does for my figure! And this wine red hue is so stunning, beautiful for the upcoming autumn colors for sure, but lovely for so many occasions.
The full sleeves and deep neckline help to create an hourglass silhouette while giving it a vintage glam feel. Another great feature is that the belt can be tied back to show off your curves, or tied in the front, like I'm wearing it, to not only create a more defined waist and give a great little bow accent to the center, but also to do a little tummy camouflage. It's brilliant. Isn't this what we all want from our clothes? For something to work with our shape and build on it to create overall look that gives us confidence? Absolutely!
So, what is it in your life that brings you joy? Is it your family and friends? Is it the peace and calm after a turbulent time in life? Is it an achievement, no matter how "small"? Don't disregard it. Don't wait for something more important, because life is made of all these small things as much as the major things. Celebrate! Celebrate all of it and wear your best.
Tonight I'm celebrating and wearing my finest. Celebrating what exactly? Nothing and everything. Celebrating life, celebrating the moment and the music playing, the good food, and the good company, and let's not forget celebrating a beautiful summer night, and a beautiful dress.
