Lost things. My life seems utterly filled with lost things. Photos, memories, words, opportunities, possibilities all lost. I've borrowed this title from some book or other, but it seems rather apt at times and also quite Halloween-y.
Sometimes I find them again but usually much too late. Take these photos for example. I took them months ago in anticipation of October and here they are, completely forgotten until the very last second. Oh, well, I suppose. Better late than never.
Part of maturity, and not a part that a I enjoy but a part of it nonetheless, is learning to let go. Things get lost. Doors get closed. Best to let go and move on if at all possible. There will always be more things, more opportunities, more doors further down the road.
My process has become: Acknowledge the loss-small or great- grieve if necessary, and then keep going. Because, dwelling over lost things keeps us stationary, keeps us from finding out what's next.
Yes, I am one of those lucky people who is constantly freezing. It's pretty much year round, it's why I love summer so much, and it's why I'm such a fan of tights. It seems like every year I have to buy a few new pairs because most tights are so flimsy. It's rare to find something that lasts and that's why I'm so excited to collaborate with WeLoveColors.
Not only does WeLoveColors have tights, socks, dancewear and so much more, they have them in every size and in 50 shades of gorgeous colors. Finally someone who totally gets me!
Well, it's fall and all, so of course I need tights in rustic fall colors, so I chose these Microfiber Nylon/Lyra tights in Toffee. At only $15 per pair, I can get so many great colors. My fall wardrobe is looking better already.
And the best part of all is that I can tell these tights are a very nice quality and they'll last me more than just a season, which is great, especially since,...ya know, like I mentioned, I wear them pretty much year round.
It's all love here for WeLoveColors. More lovely fall looks with these tights are on the way.
Embracing fall and all its glory, I'm wearing my bright autumn hues even if the trees are dragging their feet this year. Yes, I'm afraid the leaves are still mostly green at the moment here and I have to remind myself to just love the unpredictability of nature and be patient a little longer.
At least the temperature is changing and I get to roll out my velvet dresses and top and all my lovely legwear like these gorgeous Teal Fishnet Tights-$15 from WeLoveColors. They're surprising warm and perfect for a day like this when the wind has picked up and it's just a bit chilly.
Tights from WeLoveColors are so well made, they'll last for years, they come is so many sizes and the very best part of all is all the colors to choose from. It's a hard choice to make because I love them all, but I'm so glad I got these tights in teal because just look at the way they make this gold dress pop!
Trying to use all my witchy-wear before the 31st! I love this dress because it's just the right blend of October and November, so this year I decided to do a little magical conversion to make it an impromtu witch outfit. I collaborated with the top creators of all things colorful, WeLoveColors, on this project and their Black Stripe Tights in Mocha really sell the look!
What is it about stripe tights that just makes the witch look work? I may never know, but it just does and that's good enough for me. I love the mocha/black blend on these striped tights; I'll definitely wear them beyond Halloween.
I love WeLoveColors not just because like me, they know that color makes the world a happier place but also because their of the dozens of pairs of tights that I own, theirs are my favorite! They are truly wonderful. Thick, durable, comfortable, and very reasonably priced--they've got everything I want from my legwear.
I have two more collab posts with WeLoveColors coming up and I love them so much, you've got to see how gorgeous their colorful tights made my autumn outfits look, so come back to the blog all week as I continue to share!
But, just in case you're not a tights kind of person, they also have socks, thigh highs, dancewear, gloves and more. As the chilly months are just now making an appearance I hope to do many more collaborations with WeLoveColors and make this winter a truly colorful one.
It was only a matter of time, of course. One can only spend so much time looking at the beautiful dresses at Chotronette and dreaming. Eventually the time comes to either commit of forget. I decided to commit.
In the springtime I thought it was time to take the plunge with the Coconut Sherbet dress and I contacted Chotronette about customizing the length. This dress only has one photo of it and it does not show the full length which is a little frustrating and doesn't inspire a lot of confidence in purchasing such an expensive gown if you can't even see what it looks like. They got back to me within a few days and told me they could customize the length but the large applique dove on the bodice was no longer available. I responded that I was disappointed but it was ok and asked (again) for the cost. No response ever came.
Poor customer service is a big red flag for me, so this encounter scared me off for a while. But, after a lot of thought and a lot of saving up, I decided to take the plunge. I went to the site, agonized over which dress to choose, finally committed to this Garden Parfait dress. I entered my measurements, paid my money, and things immediately went wrong. Somehow my order went through twice. I contacted customer service and they told me that only one order had processed so not to worry.
The next day I wondered if I maybe should have asked for an extra half inch or so on one of my measurements and contacted customer service again since it was likely they hadn't started work on my dress yet. Again, I never received a response. This made me nervous again, but it was out of my hands, so I waited.
Within two weeks I received an email saying that my order was ready and on its way to me. It then got held up in Cincinnati for an extra week, but managed to make it to me about one month from the date I placed the order and it was finally time to try this beyond belief brand.
Well, as you can see this dress is stunning in so many ways. It has lots of layers of tulle in pink and champagne. The embroidery is beautiful and the colors are gorgeous. I have one and only one complaint: The corset back is laced up with a thin, cheap ribbon when it should be satin cord that matches the piping on the bodice.
The ribbon is difficult to tighten on the bodice to get the right fit and it will not last long because, as previously mentioned, it's thin and cheap. When the corset isn't tighten properly, the bodice doesn't hug against my body but rather just sits atop it awkwardly.
The bodice piece is see through, but the cups are lined and padded and there is a zipper at the waist and extending downward and I have nothing else but praises to sing about this dress. I absolutely adore it and I can't wait to get another. Yes, you read that right, I'm already saving. It may take me a few months, but I even know which dress I'm going to get.
It's fall and all and I am ready to see some colors! The only trouble is they are not appearing. We've had a bit of a drought this year and so the colors are sparse and brief thus far.
Mostly everything is just drying up and crumbling off the trees. This little spot is usually the most stunning and brilliant orange, but this year I caught it just as it was beginning to turn and the a wind storm blew all these leaves away before they really reached their peek.
I haven't given up hope yet. There are still four weeks left in fall and sometimes nature surprises me in a most delightful way, so we'll see if autumn arrives with all her colors yet.

Yes, yes, pumpkin day is nearly here and I'm excited because this year there will be trick-o-treating, costume parties, the works! And that means this dress will finally get some wear. I'm thinking maybe it could be part of a costume called Halloween Queen featuring a jack-o-lantern face with a tiara. It's still just in the idea phase right now though.
I'm so glad that Unique Vintage brought this dress back again this year. Last year was such a bust that a dress like this needs a second chance to be seen. Hands down, this has been the best after-holiday-clearance purchase I've ever made and I am so excited to wear it this year.
Having said that I feel that I must also note that I have no idea where I'll wear it, because I don't actually have any Halloween plans yet. But, you know my motto is buy the dress and then find or create the occasion, so I'm sure something will materialize by the 31st.

Ahhhhh, yes, there is finally a crisp chill to the air each morning and sweater weather is upon us and I thought this would be the perfect time to try out a new shop with some great vintage styles. Ever wary of new shops, I approached Cider cautiously because it's really hard to tell these days what's legit and what's fake. So, I read reviews, looked around, maybe saw a video or two and decided to give this little shop a try.
I bought three sweaters from Cider on this go-round and one thing that I noticed was that a lot of the negative reviews centered around how short the tops are, so I really tried to pay careful attention to the length of each item. On my second trip I wasn't so vigilant and I got burned with a top that is so short even wearing it with my high waist trousers there's still midriff showing. Other than that, my order shipped quickly, arrived quickly, and I got a discount on my first order which was pretty nice.
This Comfort Zone Floral sweater had the most vintage appeal for me and to it's credit it is very soft and quite pretty. I will add though that it seems very delicate and I would hand-wash only when it comes to this sweater.
So much color to love in this Rainbow Hollow Knitted Vest, I'm looking forward to wearing this in those dismal winter months. This vest is well made and so cheerful.
The vest is well made, fits true to size and will work perfectly for layering....well, it would if I were actually going to get to wear it. Unfortunately, both my children called dibs on this vest the moment they saw it and I have since relinquished it into their closet for them to dispute their claims of ownership amongst themselves.
Lastly, I ordered this Puff Sleeve Cable Knit sweater and as cute as it is, it feels like it's woven from plastic. It's rough and scratchy and I can't imagine wearing it without a shirt underneath.
It's a cute little sweater with great vintage vibes, but I'm not sure it's worth scratching all day or possibly getting a rash. Not perfect, but still cute and I'll definitely buy a few more cute sweaters from Cider before the season's over, if not for me then definitely for my teens.
