In Between Snow Storms

I decided to nut up and brave the cold this past weekend.  More winter, more ice, and more days  upon days of being trapped indoors were on the way, but there was this one blessed day before the storm arrived, and my oldest daughter needed a driving lesson, so the family loaded up in the car at near dawn on a Sunday and went to get some photos and some drive time all at once.  I'm tired of playing the victim to winter and besides, this outfit has been sitting on the hanger long enough.

I find that with each passing winter, there comes a point where I start to give up a little bit.  The main reason is that it's so cold everywhere I go that I rarely take my coat off and if I'm not going to take my coat off, does it really matter what I'm wearing?  The fact is that it does matter.  It matters to me and my own mental positivity to get ready for each day.  Anytime I catch myself thinking "it doesn't matter," I know it's time to dress up a little and pull myself out a rut.

It felt so good to be out again, dressing up and snapping pics, even if it was still a little chilly.  The best part of the morning though wasn't the photos or the driving--the driving was actually pretty terrifying--the best part was heading over to our favorite little café for a family breakfast.  I can't remember the last time we went out as a family and as our oldest daughter reaches adulthood and the end of her time living at home with us, moments like this are becoming far more precious.
