Color + Print

This may seem a little off topic for the pics, but it's my blog and that's just how I do things here.
I've had insomnia for most of my life.  The reasons for it vary from hormones to stress, but it always resurfaces for extended periods of time and then goes away for awhile.  Right now I'm having almost constant insomnia.  As a single person I would spend my sleepless nights working on my hobbies, either in my darkroom developing photos, or hanging out with friends in 24hr breakfast themed restaurants, or just generally contemplating life and the meaning of it all.  (Depression usually follows, but that's really a topic for another post.)
Living with other people in a very tiny house, puts a damper on the things I can do at night without disturbing my lovely family, fortunately none of whom have or inherited insomnia.  They're all terrific sleepers, naturally gifted but also fully devoted to improving, and they could probably go pro if they so desired.  But the other night, after hours of tossing and turning I got up to find that I was not alone.  I was awake and my daughters were awake and it was day three of what we knew would be at least two more snow days, so I suggested a movie night.  I'd brought home a flick that none of us had ever seen though we all knew the story.  It was Romeo + Juliet with DiCaprio and Danes.
I didn't see it back when it came out even though I was in the target age and gender demographic, because I had a severe case of DiCaprio fatigue.  It was bad enough that all the girls gushed over him but when I walked in on my guy friends gathered around Titanic, tearfully exclaiming that there was room enough for two on that door, Rose! I vowed then and there to never watch his movies especially Titanic.  I've kept my word and never seen Titanic, mostly because I've heard the plot so many times that I don't feel like I need to watch it.  (The jist of it is the boat sinks, a bunch of people die, Rose is a crazy bitch, and Leo deserved better.)

But, we watched it together and much like DiCaprio I can't say that it aged well.  It's a very 90s style with eye searing color palettes and dizzying, almost hyper scenes.  And that's why I chose this outfit for today's post.  It is also bold to the point of being hard on the eyes and dizzying and in spite of those things just like Romeo + Juliet, I still kinda like it.
