The Day is Done

Today's post will be brief.  I took a little trip to my new favorite quiet spot just as the evening kissed the sky with gold and pink.  The creek is rustling along it's lazy way and the world for one moment is just as it should be as this day is done, so I'll leave you with  a little selection from one of my favorite poets:
The day is done, and the darkness
Falls from the wings of Night,
As a feather is wafted downward
From an eagle in his flight.

I see the lights of the village
Gleam through the rain and the mist,
And a feeling of sadness comes o'er me
      That my soul cannot resist:

A feeling of sadness and longing,
That is not akin to pain,
And resembles sorrow only
As the mist resembles the rain.

Come, read to me some poem,
      Some simple and heartfelt lay,
That shall soothe this restless feeling,
And banish the thoughts of day.

A Lonesome Kingdom

I need my quiet places.  I need my lonesome hours to sort out my thoughts and try to make sense of a world that seems most of the time to have lost even the commonest of sense.  This little place in the woods, by the stream, may just be my new refuge from the noise of day to day life.  Everything is simple here.  Everything is still.
