Summer is meant for these moments. We've reached an age in our home where it's a struggle to get everyone up and going in the morning. But, with the promise of a morning of blueberry picking at a neighboring farm, even my rowdy little girls, eyes full of sleep and hair full of tangles, bounded out of bed, grabbed their buckets and went to the blueberry fields with me just past dawn. I said we didn't have to fill the buckets, but they did. I now have two gallons of fresh berries sitting in my sink. I suppose it's time to start making all the cobbler, muffins, and pancakes we can bear and then freeze the rest to help us through the winter days when summer is just a memory.
