"Mama, can we take a walk today?" No matter how big my children get, I love to hear those words. This morning I heard them as I was all dressed, camera in hand, and tripod over my shoulder, ready to do some outfit photos. But, I cannot resist those big brown eyes pleading for my attention so, we settled on a compromise: a just-the-two-of-us walk first, and then she would be my photographer. I set down my equipment and changed out of my stylish heels into my clunky farm boots and we set off.
As it turns out, we had lots of company though. Another child, three dogs, and this silly orange tom kitten named Garfield all decided that a walk was just the thing they needed too on this lovely summer morning. Even fighting mosquitoes, may flies, and tall weeds, we were a merry party. Sometimes I crave loneliness and quiet, but these noisy, little outings remind me of how much I not only need others, but love and enjoy my time with them...even if the dogs are determined to lay down and muddy every crystal pool in the creek and the cat insists on photo bombing me. What a beautiful day.
A quick dress review before I post the shopping info: This dress is made of a breathable cotton, perfect for summer, but I love that it's sleeveless so I can layer with a cardi and not have those bulky sleeve bumps. The bodice and skirt are fully lined. It has pockets and comes with a matching belt. Ironing it was a breeze and the fit is true to size. I've also ordered this dress in the plaid print. A review for that dress is on the way, but I can say that I like the fabric on the travel dress better. It has a tighter weave so it feels lighter.
