I have a special guest with me today. Me-mow has joined me here in the sunshine for this post. As much as I wish I could say she is here for me, the fact of the matter is that she is here because there is a nice soft quilt involved. As a matter of fact, I brought the quilt out first and set it on the table while I went back inside to grab a book and when I returned she was already curled up in the quilt and sound asleep. When I tugged on the quilt to wake her, she slowly raised her head and looked at me as if to say, “Excuse me, do you mind?!” Oh, what would I do without this sassy little assassin cat?
Part of my work from home routine is to make a big breakfast for my family. Whether it's pancakes and scrambled eggs or french toast and bacon with orange juice, I like to make them something that will “stick to their ribs” as my grandmother used to say. They are always so surprised and grateful that I enjoy making it for them as much as they appreciate having it. Our normal busy schedule doesn't typically allow for a big breakfast. It's usually a grab and dash sort and mine is usually in the form of a fruit smoothie that I can seal up and take with me. If that does not sound ideal, that is because it isn't.
Getting ready for the office involves thinking of all the tasks I will be performing the next day and the appropriate clothes in which to accomplish them. For example, if I will be doing something physical I opt for trousers and flats. If I will be at a desk all day, then a dress and heels makes me happiest. All this is followed by a thoughtful sweep of my closet to pull all the necessary items together and have them ready and hanging up waiting for me.
When I work from home, it's the opposite. I don't have to rush per say, but I do have a schedule to keep and a to-do list to complete by the end of the work day. After a shower, I pull my hair into a loose bun or use a headband to keep it out of my face and then it's into some chic lounge wear as I prepare to spend the day at the keyboard. FemmeLuxe has really spoiled me with their loungewear sets like this BrownCrop Ribbed Two Piece Co-ord Set-Suzi. I feel ready to start the day but also infinitely comfortable at any task.
One of the advantages, nay the pleasures, of working from home is that my lunch break doesn't have to involve rushing through a plastic tub of cold leftovers and hoping there's nothing in my teeth before my next meeting. I can take the time to prepare a hot nutritious meal and really enjoy it. At the end of the work from home day I don't feel as drained from all the interactions (introverts will understand that) and commuting. In fact I usually still have enough energy to manage a brief thirty minute yoga session in the evenings. I am totally able to move and breathe freely through all the poses in Femme Luxe's loungewear sets like this this Suzi co-ord set. It's right there with me no matter what the day holds and it adds to my enjoyment of working from home.
