The Season of Things

Today was exactly the kind of day I love.  We slept in late.  I puttered around in my bathrobe for a while, drinking my coffee.  Then I made a big country breakfast complete with biscuits and two kinds of homemade jelly--Violet and Dandelion--and then as we gathered around breakfast, we engaged in.......Conversation!!  And not just pop-culture dribble, but real, meaningful conversation about current events and eternal things.  And, my children had........Intelligent things to say!!!!!

Then we went outside to do all the outside things one has to do on a farm.  Watering things, feeding things, building things, testing out the new bread oven--more to come on that subject--hours of trying to locate those orange kittens which their ninja mother has hidden away.  It's enough to make for full days and full contentment.

The mini-forest that we call a yard has finally delivered green sprigs and tiny flowers instead of the winter bare earth.  And warmer days are on the way, so I'll take my afternoon tea here again soon and I've already been planning a few new recipes to try--violet jelly thumbprint cookies spring to mind.

Today's outfit was a compromise, less boho more cottage core, it checks all my wear-to-work-at-home boxes.  Which are mainly just, look good, feel good, don't think about it anymore.  I thought a few low resolution photos of my low maintenance look seemed appropriate.
I've been going through one of those phases where I just don't like my clothes and nothing feels like it fits.  It's probably just the changing of the seasons, going from heavy layers to light fabrics, but I've struggled to feel comfortable.  My go-to peasant tops and maxi skirts have become so thread bare, they're too chilly to wear just now and I know I won't have them around much longer.  Just like the spring flowers and these perfect days, all favorite things come and go, and the best we can do is pause to enjoy them while they last.
