I would live in rainy Sunday mornings forever if I could. There is no other feeling quite like the peaceful joy of sitting outside early on Sunday and listening to the raindrops patter on the roof and rocks while the rest of the world is sleeping in.
Taking photos has taken a backseat to an overly busy schedule for the past year as Mr. Bleu pursues a new career path and I find myself doing all the things I used to do as a stay-at-home mom only with a job now too. I have not enjoyed it. But I only have so much time and something had to give, so the blog's taken the hit. If it weren't for the occasional collaboration giving me deadlines to meet, I think I probably would have stopped blogging by now, because I just don't have any motivation when I'm so tired from doing all the things.
So, today, I did have a deadline to meet, but decided while I was out, to take along an extra couple of outfits I've been working on to photograph just for me and the blog. So, I completed my collab work first and then, just as I changed into this little number, the rain started.
I never find the rain daunting on days like this. I'm quite content to find an awning to huddle under while waiting for it to let up, just listening to it pour.
For several years, Sunday mornings were the time for me to take photos and Mr. Bleu and I decided to turn it into a date of sorts as we would always follow photos with breakfast at a local café. It wasn't grand as far as dates go, but it was an enjoyable time to reconnect at the end of each busy week, and I didn't realize that we would lose that too in the shuffle of changing careers.
I've always found little things to be far more meaningful than grand gestures. Don't get me wrong, there are times when grand gestures are well and truly called for, but looking back on my life, the most treasured memories I keep are the smallest moments, the simplest words which convey the purest love.
Eventually I had to abandon my little hiding spot and face the rain because I had an appointment elsewhere on this particular Sunday. So, I made a moderate dash for the car and it was off to the next thing, but I am so glad I decided to wait a moment here and listen to it rain.
