Last year I discovered Ivy City Co and it has been a total love affair ever since. Finally a dress company with the prints I love in modest styles and affordable prices and in a complete range of sizes that includes me and so many others who have spent far too many years having to settle for things that don't fit properly. Now I have had a taste of well fitting clothes and there's no going back.
I have made a number of purchases from Ivy City, but I have also been trying to curb my spending habits, so I have had to be very selective about what I purchase. While I am very pleased with the progress I've made in getting my shopping under control, every now and then I regret missing out on something. Such was the case with the Sweet Rosie Dress. It was part of the Spring/Summer 2023 and because it wasn't cotton, I convinced myself it probably wouldn't get much wear.
By the time I had changed my mind it was already gone; I reached out to Ivy City and asked if they had a restock planned. They put it to a vote in the community to see if there was enough interest (I so love that they do that! They really do listen to their customers) and it seemed like the interest was there, and a lot of people asked for it in cotton this time, but I still don't know if it will happen.
In the meantime, I also put out an ISO in the fan groups and the resale sites. I know it seems like a long shot, but really this usually pays off although sometimes it does take a few months to a year before things turn up. So, I kept an eye out and after two months, a dress did turn up in my size and in "Like New" condition. Sometimes it really is worth the effort and the wait to find that dress that got away.
So, the dress arrived and it is perfect in every way. I am so glad I watched and waited. Actually, I tried to make my own version with similar fabric that I will post very soon, and if IC decides to release it again in cotton, I will probably spring for a second dress because I love this style and print so much. It really is the perfect blend of cottage core and vintage bliss.
