Aliexpress Hearty Corset Midi Dress

My original plan when I made this banner was to buy this Lirika Matoshi Hearts dress and a dupe to compare.  Upon buying Matoshi's Pink Sky dress however, I realized that the corset top does not fit my body at all.   Yeah, I love this dress, I just wish I could fit into it properly.   So, I decided not to save up for the heart dress and instead just do a quick review of the dupe that's floating around out there.... mostly because I already bought it.

First off, let me say that if you want the gorgeousness of Matoshi's dress this dress just doesn't have it.  Not even close.  It's a cute dress, but gorgeous?  No, it's not gorgeous.  It's cute and inexpensive.  Go into this experience expecting nothing more than that and you.....well, you still may be disappointed.  I can usually find something positive to say about nearly anything, but not so much this time.  Now, let me list all the ways this dress has disappointed me:

1.  No Corset Boning.  No surprise here.  Putting in corset boning takes a lot of time and this dress was made quickly and cheaply.  As a result it is missing that lovely structured look and fit in the bodice.

2. Missing 75% of the Hearts.  Matoshi's dress has glitter hearts and lots of them.  This inspired version does have sequin hearts but far, far fewer of them.  It's not nearly the same effect with so few hearts.
3.  Lacking Fullness.  This dress falls flat in the fullness department.  It lacks the skirt girth of Matoshi's.  This is no doubt a way to save money on fabric.  A fuller skirt requires more material.
4. Slick Ribbons.  Velvet ribbons are ideal and due to the nature of the fabric are not only more lovely but also more likely to stay tied.  Slick ribbons like this dress has come undone and you risk some unwanted boob exposure.
5.  Weird Cups + Bra Exposure.  The cups are just impossible to fit to my body and I cannot be the only one with this issue.  I know that I had similar struggles with this design in Matoshi's Pink Sky dress, but what's going on with this dress is just incomprehensible.  I decided not to hide my bra with photo editing because, it wasn't just a slip here and there.  In order to make the cups fit in the right place I had to wear the straps low and there was no way to cover my bra.  No matter how I tried the dress was either too high or was too low, but at least when it was too low it didn't look so bizarre.

Nothing from Paris' fashion week is going to make it to the mid-west.  By the time it gets here it's a cheaper fabric, a worse fit, and a less avant-garde design.  But I do appreciate it when sellers at least take their own photos instead of using others' photos and claiming that's the product you're getting when they know it's not.
Buyers need to see what they're actually getting.  If they're only using stock photos and not showing people the actual goods it's called a scam.  It's like going to a restaurant and ordering a steak dinner based on menu description and then getting served a can of cat food which I have to open myself.  Seriously sellers, buyers are reasonable; just work with them a little!
I hated this dress enough that after taking these photos I promptly sold it on a resale site.  I asked only what I paid for it and I gave pretty clear descriptions of its issues along with photos of the actual dress and someone decided it was worth it.  I'll leave links for this dress and the Matoshi dress that inspired it below.
