Balancing the Old and New

Phew!  Last year was a real challenge.  This year I am determined to slow things down, work a little less, focus more on getting my house in order and spend time with family.
It's the end of an era as I leave one career field and enter another.  It's scary and exciting and I am looking forward to the new challenges.  But, more than anything, I really just want more of a work/life balance in this new year.
Since I am changing my work field, I have become acutely aware of the fact that everything in my wardrobe that was appropriate or even celebrated for my last job just won't work in my current second job or in my new job.  I've had to make some changes.
Of course, I have done some cleaning out of my wardrobe over the past few months, but my goal has been to not simply refill it but rather to use what is remaining and to shop my own closet to find new ways to wear current things.

I've realized that I have quite a lot of novelty prints and many of them just won't do but I love them too much to let them go, so I've been selective about finding just the right balance.  I've parted with a few and kept a few that I think I can make work.
At times it's been a fun experiment and at times....it's been awkward wearing something that just doesn't quite fit in with the work vibe.  Believe it or not, I really don't dress the way I do to stand out.  I do it to feel good about myself and comfortable where ever I am.
So, today's selection is a little something that I've worn a few time to the office and actually find it to be the perfect blend of the old and new.  It's a balance that I am hoping will carry over into the other aspects of my life.
