In Between

Minimal make-up for this post as the photos are taking place at the end of a very long day.  I've been holding on to these Son de Flor dresses, waiting to wear some of them until after I've had a chance to photograph them first, because, the other day I was wearing a beautiful (and unnecessarily, but I realized this too late) expensive new silk skirt for only the second time and dropped my lunch on it, creating a nasty stain.  I'm usually very easy on my clothes, but every now and then disaster strikes.  Better to have them forever preserved in photos when they're fresh out of the package than risk waiting for a wear or two.  Since the weather was just warm enough that I won't freeze within minutes, I knew today was my day.
February is an in-between time.  It's in-between winter and spring and at the moment I am in between one work schedule and another.  I had planned on rushing from one chaos to another and have unexpectedly stumbled into a moment of calm.  I am working at the office less and at home more.  This rusty wrap dress with black polka dots feels like the perfect dress for working at home or at the office, but I did feel like it was missing something.  It definitely needed to be accessorized, and fortunately, just when all seemed lost, I got a little style inspo from Miss Midnight.  Here is a fashion truth you may never have been told, but definitely need to hear:  When it comes to accessorizing your dresses, you can never go wrong with a little black cat.
This wrap dress is such a dream, and it fits right in with all the rusty colors of late winter.  I am absolutely desperate for spring.  I know that it brings its own troubles, but I hate being cold above all else and I'm ready for winter to be over already.
I just wrapped up my last days at the job I've been at for seven years, and the transition to another career field hasn't gone quite as smoothly as I had planned.  That might sound discouraging, but I'm viewing this gap in employment as an opportunity to get back to some of the things I used to love about my stay-at-home routine.  Namely, I am trying to cook wholesome meals, get in some daily exercise, and keep everything clean and tidy.
While I don't think it's necessary for everyone to dress up for a day of domestic stewardship, for me personally, I know I am always more productive when I dress for the occasion.  I can really feel that mental shift occur when I make the physical change from pajamas or workout clothes to a housedress or my recently acquired house-overalls.  My brain just suddenly knows, it's time to go to work, and I always have a far more productive day.  Beyond that, no matter what I'm doing, I just feel more confident about myself if I'm doing the things I do while wearing something I love.
I know this post has been a bit all over the place, we've talked dresses, accessorizing with felines, and what comes next for my work schedule, all in one go, but that's kind of where my life is right now, so please bear with me.  For the rest of winter and however long this transition phase of my jobs lasts, I am excited to wear my pretty dresses and seek purpose and meaning in each season.
