There's something about summer which makes me nostalgic for the circus. As a little girl I only saw a circus once, but it was pure magic. So much so that it made a lasting impression and I determined to take my own little girls to the circus as well. Flash forward to one summer day when I nearly fainted at the sight of my oldest child, who was then only 3 years old, riding around on a massive elephant. I guess it's a little less magic from the parental perspective, but my girl never forgot that enchanting evening either.
It's safer and far more stylish to celebrate the circus in dress form rather than careening around the dazzling ring a top a pachyderm, so these days I keep my big-top revelries relegated to fashion, which is why this Lily dress in Circus print from Dolly & Dotty caught my eye. I love this Lily style, just off the shoulder with ruching, a fitted waist/flare skirt combo, and those darling buttons front and center. This is one dress that's just to lovely to believe; it has to been seen, so I'll let the photos do all the talking.
