During the week, I'm all about the job, whatever that job is. Some days I'm 100% the model employee. Some days, I'm the best school volunteer I can be. And some days, I'm mom-ing the hardest I can. But I have to have at least a little time for peace and quiet and dare I say a little fun.
I've taken to spending Sunday mornings roaming around the city. I'm up before dawn to see the sunrise over the stoplights and buildings. Then I usually grab a decaf at some local spot, and maybe breakfast now and then. It's such a relaxing way to start/end my weekend and it's just for me. Saturdays are always full of the little busy chores that I can't manage to get done during the week, so it's really Sunday that I get to kick back and enjoy.
I suppose I could wander around town in baggy sweats all day, or yoga pants since they seem to be the new sweat pants. But, I'd rather put on a gorgeous dress and a sleek pair of heels for my coffee break. Dressing up makes it more than just another day, it makes this a special event. It's a mental mark that this day, these few hours are exception, exclusive, precious. As much as I value each of my roles during the work week, I would trade this one for anything.
