Disney Bounding

Unique Vintage Minnie Mouse Disney Skirt
In honor of Disney's reopening this month, I thought I'd do a quick Disney themed outfit.  I used to think that adults who went to Disney, sans children but fully decked out in character-esque garb or something dapper, were...well,...odd to put it kindly.  That was until I went there myself.

Now, to be perfectly honest, I only went because we happened to live in very close proximity to Tokyo Disney and because my children begged me.  If either of those things had been missing from the equation, I would have passed my life perfectly content to never go to Disney.  Then we went....

By the end of the day, I was a true fan of Disney theme parks in all theirs forms.  And now, I wouldn't mind another trip to Disney--even without my children.
I see the appeal of couples or friends having that kind of wholesome fun together.  I know I'm not the first, obviously people have been doing this for years, but in Japan, they got the message so loud and clear that they built a second Disney park, Disney Sea, which is mainly geared toward couples and friends.
With its under-the-sea theme, Disney Sea is the only one of its kind in the world, and yes we did go there too.  It was lovely, although I think the feeling was unanimous in our group that while we were glad we went to both parks, if we had to go again it would definitely be regular Disney.
As far as going childless, I definitely see the appeal now.  Just getting dressed up for a dapper day would be great, but I would love to go Disney Bounding!  If you're not familiar with that term, Disneybounding means going with a Disney character inspired outfit, but not in a costume of the character.
My outfit today is a perfect example of Disneybounding.  The skirt, top and purse are inspired by Minnie Mouse, but not a direct Minnie costume.  There are rules against costumes and I think the rules are for a good reason.  Disney expects their employees to behave in a certain way while in character and they don't want that to be confused with a park-goer in costume who is cranky, rude, etc. Seems pretty reasonable to help preserve the magic, right?
Spending the day together as a couple, with friends, or with the whole family would be enough for me, but add to it all the rides, restaurants, and fun things to do and I think maybe it's time I started planning my next travel adventure.
