It is the last day of FemmeLuxe week and for the past few days I have been not only singing the praises of FemmeLuxe's Joggers, T-shirts, and Loungewear, but our theme this month has been Little Black Dresses. Today I thought we would change gears and add a little color with this lovely Emerald One Shoulder Ruched Slinky Midi Dress--Savannah.
You may have seen me style this dress in the past and if you love the Savannah Dress you can get it in a wide variety of colors--nine to be precise and each one creates a different vibe. Personally I have styled this dress in brown, (which by the way was my first time wearing a one shoulder dress and in that post I shared five tips for how to wear a one shoulder dress should you need a little help) and more recently in a soft periwinkle blue.
I hope to try a few more colors in the future, but this deep emerald green perfect for today. Selecting the right color for the event you plan to attend and mood you're in or wish to convey is a pretty important part of composing your outfit. Think of it as you would composing a painting, having the right color makes a huge impact on the statement you want to make.
In astrological circles only certain people should wear emeralds and wearing it can bring peace and success to the right person and devastation to the wrong person. Eeesh, sounds pretty risky to me; I think I'll stick with just the jewel tones instead. The good news is that emerald, like all of jewel tones color palette, is the kind of color that pretty much anyone can safely wear, and who knows, it might even bring you peace (you won't be anxious, wondering if you look fabulous or not) and it might bring you success (if you look good and you know it, you feel more confident and able to handle tough situations and that always leads to success).
Now, I'm not saying it's a guarantee, but it couldn't hurt, right.
So, what is it about emerald that makes it such a luxe color? Unlike those tricky shades in neons and pastels which work really well with certain skin tones and make others look sallow and washed out, jewel tones bring out the best in every skin tone. They make you look glowy and, well, stunning. It also helps tremendously to have a flattering dress that's sporting that stunning shade which is why I chose the Savannah dress in emerald.
This Savannah bodycon dress has lots of ruching throughout to camouflage trouble spots and that wonderful one shoulder neckline for a dramatic effect and the long sleeve has a way of drawing the eye over the entire dress. Going well past the knees at the front and being slightly raised at the sides with the ruching, I also love the nice long length to this dress. It's very tasteful. Remember when wearing a one shoulder dress that it's nice to keep the hair up and show off that shoulder--nice but not necessarily a fashion faux pas to wear your hair down. When it comes to accessories you don't need a necklace, but statement earrings look amazing like these black paisley enamel earrings.
Because of the long sleeve, I don't recommend bracelets or cuffs, but a chunky statement ring would go quite nicely here. If you want to add more colors to this look, stick to hot pink, deep blue or violet, burgundy or plum purple, and of course neutrals like white, beige, or my choice for today's outfit--black. I wore black patent sling back pumps with the bow accents and I also think a sparkling black clutch would make a nice addition to this outfit.
I hope you've enjoyed this month's FemmeLuxe collab as much as I always do. It always seems like this week goes by so quickly! But, we have more good things on the way and I can't wait to show you what we're working on for you next and in the mean time I've come up with a few new styles with some past FemmeLuxe favorites. Those great looks will be posted soon!
