It's mid-week, I'm working at home, comfort clothes are on my mind and FemmeLuxe makes some of my favorites. For stylish comfort clothes, I love FemmeLuxe's Joggers, T-shirts, and Loungewear, and maybe next month I'll showcase some of my favorite FemmeLuxe casuals. Our topic for today isn't comfort clothes, though it can't hurt to know where to get some really great ones. It's day three of my FemmeLuxe collaboration week and many times I do a little theme either in style or topic for FemmeLuxe week. I suppose we could say the theme thus far for this collab is Little Black Dresses. It's important to devote a little time to such a vital element to any wardrobe. If you only own one dress, let it be a little black dress!
I know that at present special events may not be on your mind because a lot of special events have been canceled or postponed. I am hopeful that restrictions are going to continue to ease up and weddings, awards ceremonies, charity events and the like will once again be allowed in whatever forms that has to be.
If there have to be some limits on numbers of a little spacing to the seats, that is fine. I think we all understand those sorts of things, but I think that we also recognize that as human beings we need to celebrate life and love, and to celebrate achievements. We need to put on our best, gather together, put on our very best, raise a glass and honor the people we love together. That time may be on hold for now, but it will return and when it does, you'll need to look and feel your best in a stunning dress.
Monday's Little Black Dress post was a PU Corset Dress. Tuesday's LBD was a rather unique one shoulder dress. Today's post is the Black Bardot Cowl Neck Ruched Midi Dress - Malia which combines two iconic style elements: the Little Black Dress and the Bardot neckline. So, I have decided to label today's post a LBBD--Little Black Bardot Dress. (Tomorrow's post will break with our theme in the sense that it will not be a black dress, but it does have plenty of style, so be sure to come back tomorrow for that post too!)
If you're a regular reader you already know what a Bardot neckline is, but for all you fashion newcomers, let's quickly define it. Brigitte Bardot was the famous blonde french bombshell actress of the 1950s and 1960s and is perhaps best remembered for her messy bangs, pouty pout and swooping neckline which exposed the shoulders. We won't talk about the bangs, pout, or films today, although the lady did make a lasting impression with her look, it's that classic neckline I want to talk about today.
You may have seen me wear the Malia dress in other colors, FemmeLuxe has it in seven colors and they are all lovely. I can't resist trying a new color when it comes along, because I really love the cut of this dress. There's the figure flattering bodycon element which can be a scary thing for many of us, but the great thing about this Malia bodycon dress is the tummy and bummy trouble zone camouflaging ruching. the bare shoulders with draped sleeves and then of course that draped front that gives this dress an eye catching bit of visual play. If you'd like to see the other colors I've worn in the Malia dress click here for Emerald, White, or Rust. They are all so flattering and I love each color for the different seasons' special events, but you can never go wrong anytime of year or at any event with a Little Black Dress.
I'm all about keeping things simple when I can, so I brought out the classics for styling this dress, by that I mean my pearls and some patent leather slingback heels with bow accents at the toes. A bun is an easy and elegant style that you can create in just minutes with a bun donut. I have the jumbo size so I don't have to spend lots of time wrapping hair around the base making this style even easier. False lashes would also be a great and very simple touch to really bring emphasis to the eyes. Unfortunately, a certain someone took my false lashes and I have not had the opportunity to replace them just yet. Perhaps next time though. Normally I'd go with red lipstick to contrast strongly against the black dress, but I thought for this I would stick with coral lipstick instead and I love the effect. Check back tomorrow for our last day of FemmeLuxe week and the stunning dress I have on the way.
