Queen of the Beehive

I loved Dolly Parton as a child.  I loved her music and her style, and let's not forget that huge hair.  As an adult, I appreciate all her altruistic deeds like her Imagination Library which is a book gifting program that sends free books to children.  Have you seen any of them?  They're good books.
When it comes to big hair, I recall the advice of the great Dolly Parton.  When asked how she got that high hairstyle that became her trademark, she said, "tease it to Jesus and spray it like hell."  What a woman!
All teasing aside, I love this basic baby beehive I've been wearing lately.  Teasing is so damaging and my hair is already a little fried from dye and straight ironing.  I don't think it could handle teasing.  That's why I've been using a foam bump topped with spare hair that's been collecting on my brush.

It sounds kind of weird, but it's a centuries old technique and it's great for a couple of reasons.  1.  it makes use of all that hair wound up in your brush-- what else were you going to do with it?  Just throw it away?  Waste not, dear. Waste Not.  2.  It saves your hair from the wear and tear of teasing.  3.  It's a renewable supply.  You can use it for a week or so, then throw it away and you'll have another to replace it.
Plus, (bonus here) it's Your hair, so it will perfectly match your hair.  Still sounds weird?  That's ok, you don't have to do it.  Just don't knock it 'til you've tried it.
Also on the subject of beehives, I thought it would be fun to get a theme going here, so check out this glorious beehive print!  It's so sweet and I love the big bow.  I would make a dress from this fabric if I could find it.
You may recognize this as a Retrolicious style blouse, which it is.  I couldn't find it at Retrolicious; I got mine from Modern Millie.  Since there are so many great colors in this top I wanted to bring a little of each color into the other items in the outfit.
With so many bright colors and the big hair, I don't know, but I strongly suspect that Dolly would approve.
