Autumn Trending: Houndstooth Prints

Look around this fall and you will hounds-tooth prints everywhere.  I've seen them at Karina, Unique Vintage, Shein, and all my other favorite places.  You may have noticed me styling this top with a FemmeLuxe outfit earlier this week, and I'll be styling a few things from those sites, so stick with me as we explore this classic print in all its glorious forms.

I am loving this trend!
Really, really loving it.  It has sophistication and versatility.  And right now it has plenty of availability.  You can find it in blouses, skirts, dresses, sweaters--you name it and it's out there in a hounds tooth print right now.  So, I put together a little inspiration board for today's look and headed out to the city streets while I was on my mini-break to snap a few pics of my first outfit in the hounds tooth trend!
Hounds tooth prints are a four pointed tessellation usually in black and white or brown and tan.  You'll often find them in thick winter fabrics like wool and adorning blazers and pencil skirts for that same season.  I love that there are so many lighter fabric options coming out this season so you can wear this style year round.

I don't mind a little monochrome in my outfits, but if at all possible, you know I love to add some color.  Goldenrod yellow is my standby statement color for pairing with black and white prints and this chicwish skirt has been a favorite for that very purpose for years now.  But, I thought it would be nice to add a little more brightness to this look, so I employed the something old--skirt, something new--top, something borrowed--nothing really, and something blue.

This inexpensive little teal blue envelope clutch cost me all of $6 on Amazon.  Now, this isn't the sort of purse that I will use everyday for the rest of my life.  It's cute, it's cheap, and it will likely last a couple of seasons and then need to retire.  I read the reviews for this bag on Amazon and people without fail will bemoan the fact that a $6 bag is "so cheaply made!"  Of course it's cheaply made--It's a cheap bag.  It's fast fashion.  Here for today's trend, inexpensive, and gone tomorrow.
You get what you pay for and for $6, I totally love this little bag.  (Wow, she's going to talk about this bag for two paragraphs?  Yuh bet. But, hang with me, I'm almost done.)  It's cute, it will carry my cash and phone, and it has a removable chain.  It hasn't fallen apart on me yet, but if it does, I can just go get another.  Plus, there are a lot of color options, so I may end up with a few more before the season is over.
I wore this little number on a mini-break.  Mr. Bleu and I rented an carriage house built in the 1800s in East Victorian Mansionville, it was recently converted into a B&B.  It was wonderful!  I wanted to put it in my pocket and take it home with me.  I could totally live in a tiny house like that.  In fact, that's the dream.
Three days in a tiny three storey house with just us and nothing to do but take walks, enjoy wonderful meals, and sleep in late.  I've never understood why people go to the same places on vacation year after year until now.  When you've been there before the pressure is off.  You've seen the sights and now you're free to just take your time and relax, and that's exactly what we did.  It was lovely!
Lots more great looks with hounds tooth prints from some of my favorite brands are on the way soon as we enjoy this beautiful autumn season.  To Be Continued..............
