Yesterday, Tomorrow, and Today

A little thrifted Throw Back Dress Day.  This one is that lovely black and gray striped Rudie Dress by Dear Creatures.  Oh how I miss Dear Creatures! Just the right blend of vintage 60s mod and modern day style.  I don't always remember how or why these posts get shuffled to the back and lost on the shelf, but it's like found money when they do turn up.
It's also a little exercise in time travel for me.  I always look back at these photos and think, "If I had told that Leandra what was coming in the next year she never would have believed me!"  That's truer now than it usually is.  Do you think if you knew a year ago all the things that 2020 had in store that you would have believed it?  If you had believed, is there anything you would have done differently in 2019?
It doesn't do any good I suppose to think about these things because we can't go back in time and change anything.  And we can't look ahead and predict the future.  And maybe that's for the best.  I heard this quote years ago when I was going through a particularly difficult time and tormenting myself with asking if I could go back how would I have done things differently.  Although I can't remember who said it, the person said, "How many of us, if we could see where the journey would take us, would even take the first step."  Quite true.
I can honestly say that if I had known at that time in my life that that's where things were headed, I would have planted my feet right there and never moved.  But, fortunately my journey didn't end there.  I kept going; I had to.  And somethings are better and some things are worse.  Some days are good and some days are awful.  That's why it's best that we can't look ahead and we can't go back.  All we can do is decide what to do with the time we have, the right now of it all.
Maybe 2021 will be better.  Maybe worse.  Likely there will be a mix of both and the way you interpret it will have the biggest effect on whether or not it's a "good" year.  So, make the most of what's left of this year.  Make the most of today.  Enjoy or deal with each one as it comes.  Don't spend too much time looking ahead or looking back.  Just be present and thankful for today.
