Mine for a Time

A Collectif Vintage wool wiggle dress is just what this frosty morning calls for.  I don't often see dresses like this in wool and I love the design.  I've passed this dress on to a fellow fashion lover already, but I did enjoy it while it was mine.
As much as I love holding on to all my favorites and nearly all my clothes are my favorites, I can appreciate the desire to give them to someone else for them to enjoy.  I don't part with many of my things, but I've had to alter my stance on that since a few of my things have fallen apart when I pulled them off the shelf after years of collecting dust.
It tends to happen most often with things labeled as "vegan leather."  They last about three years and then they crumble to dust.  Shoes, bags, even a skirt, they bubble and peal and crumble in so little time that they really weren't worth the exorbitant cost.

Yes, it hasn't been cheap factory direct products I'm talking about.  These were high end brands and most of them I bought new and took extremely good care of and in no time at all, they were unusable.  If there's one thing I know at this point it's that those vegans make terrible leather.  But, I've also learned to use things before they disintegrate or else to hand them down to someone who will.
After all, although it may take a little longer, nothing lasts and it's important to fully use an enjoy everything we own.  What's the point of having it if it's just going to sit hidden away on some shelf until it is past its usefulness?
So, this gorgeous dress has gone on to someone who will wear it often and I'm happy to have had it for a while and then given it to someone else who will love it.
