This post has been a long time in the making and it's finally here! My second Lirika Matoshi dress is this Pink Sky Midi dress. I absolutely fell in love with it when I saw it in the shop while searching for the Strawberry Dress by LM and knew if I were in any way able, I'd come back for it.
Unfortunately, this dress was out of stock, but I began saving my money just in case and low and behold it did come back in late November. I purchased it on December 4th and it arrived somewhere around the 26th of December. Not to shabby for a turn around time on a handmade dress. There's a lot to talk about in this post, so let's jump right in to the dress review!!
As with my last Matoshi gown, I absolutely adore the fullness of this Pink Sky dress. There are so many wonderful details from the decorations, to the layer upon frothy layer of pink mesh fabric.
I truly feel like a princess wearing this gown and I'm am getting some serious Cinderella vibes on this staircase. If only I hadn't been wandering through a muddy forest the day before my heels might be a little more stately to match my gown.
Some Pros for this dress: I ordered my usual size and everything fits perfectly except.....the bra cups and this is one of two cons I'm going to mention in this post. The bra cups are a bit strange and as I've just seen another fashionista's photos in this dress in instagram having the exact same issue, I know I'm not alone. I haven't figured out how to resolve it. I've tried bra, no bra, padding, and au natural, and nothing has really resolved it.
More Pros: Coming in at $449, the price tag on this dress was lower than the Strawberry dress but there's no less quality to the gown. It is well crafted, with so much sparkle and vibrant colors that I am becoming a loyal follower of Matoshi's designs.
In addition to the color, sparkly, and fullness of the gown, this fabric is quite sturdy. I snagged it on my heel at least 4 or 5 times in the past two days I've worn it and so far the fabric has not been damaged, so it's not flimsy stuff. The straps are also a very nice, thick velvet and quite long for plenty of room to adjust and still have those lovely bows at the shoulders.
Second Con: Since the velvet straps were set quite far back, almost under my arms, this did cause some odd sagging in the bra cups. I sewed the ribbon down along the ridge of each cup and brought it back up closer to the placement of balconette bra straps. This did a little to correct that issue, but it may take more work. Those two issues with the bodice are the only cons I've found to the dress and there are so many pros that I can forgive those issues.
Today you can save 20% off and get free shipping Lirika Matoshi's Etsy Shop. Tomorrow I'll be discussing a dress that definitely drew inspiration from this dress and do a side by side comparison. You've got to see the difference between these two dresses and hear my pros and cons (yes, it has some pros). See you back here tomorrow!
