Season's Greetings

Christmastime has come around again.  It seems like I've only just taken my decorations down and here it is, time to put them up again.
I often remember an old saying at this time of year that goes The days are long, but the years are short.  How true that is.
Last year marked the end of the childhood Christmases at our house as my daughters didn't ask for a single toy.  Instead it was all clothes, make-up, and electronics.  I knew it was coming, but it still took me by surprise.
I'm sad to see those years of childhood wonder are behind us now, but it's still amazing to watch my children grow and change and I appreciate their talents and their sense of humor in a different way now as they come into their own.
I haven't given up on Christmas; I still love this time of year and my family does too and now that my children are older, I've been able to completely turn over the job of decorating to them.
I thought that letting go of doing the decorating would be tough, but it was the easiest and best holiday decision I've ever made!
It's so wonderful to leave the house in the morning and come home from work to find the tree up, the cards hung over doorways, the stocking and mantle taken care of, and nothing left for me to do, but enjoy.
Not only do my girls do a wonderful job (they've got a great sense of style) but it allows me to focus on other aspects of the season that get overlooked--like making hot cocoa from scratch and baking homemade cookies for the neighbors.
No matter where you find yourself at this time of year or in what season of life you find yourself, the most important thing is to surround yourself with family and friends and give them the very best gift anyone can get--Love.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, dear friends.  May you give and find love throughout the year.
