For scheduling reasons I had to split up FemmeLuxe week this month so today and tomorrow's posts will be the continuation from last week, but I promise they'll be worth the little wait. I think that at the top of my list for outfit posts is the kind where I see one piece of clothing worn in several outfits so that I can really get a good picture of its potential. I would like to start doing more of these on my blog. It takes a little more planning and a little more time which can be difficult when my schedule is already packed, but I think the outcome is worth the extra effort.
I
love FemmeLuxe's Joggers, T-Shirts, and Loungewear for getting
comfortable around the house and I was so pleased to be able to
showcase one of their loungewear sets this month. And of course, you
know I love trying corset tops from FemmeLuxe. I've done several now
and it's so much fun styling them. I typically do several
outfits with them over the course of a few months. But today's post
with the Black Faux Leather Corset Crop top- Marie will be the first
time I've done three outfits with one corset top in the same post.
I've decided to call this post Crazy, Sexy, Cool as
the theme for each outfit.
Be
prepared though, with so many outfits we have a lot of ground to
cover and a lot of photos so this post is going to be long, but it's
going to be soooooo goood!
Outfit
1: Crazy Ok, I don't really think this outfit is crazy. I
would probably call it whimsical or playful, but there's too much
thoughtful composition to call it crazy per say. Whatever the term we
use, I love the colors in this outfit the bright accents of warm red
in the layered top, patent heels, and the hearts on the skirt.
The
playful element comes in with the comic print skirt and there's some
great texturing with the stripes in the red top, shiny vinyl Marie corset and
patent heels, and the matte tights. Also, notice the scalloped edge
on the sleeves of the red top. So many great details in this look.
I considered
wearing black heels or flats, but those red pumps really keep the
outfit going, too much of a single color and the eye tends to stop.
Keep those pops of color throughout the outfit to create an overall
interesting look.
I
love the zipper back on this top, it makes it so much easier to put
on!
Outfit 2:
Sexy My first thought for this
Marie Corset top was to wear a black tulle skirt, very flouncy and
ruffled, but when I saw this lattice skirt, I thought the texture
would work wonderfully with the vinyl of the top and I am not
disappointed.
Remember
when we talked about how using a single color head to toe can make
the eye lose interest? Well, adding in textures like the smooth top,
latticed tulle skirt, and matte strappy heels keeps things
interesting.
Only
two outfits in and you can see how versatile a Corset top can
be. Not only that, but in and of itself the Marie Corset Top is such
a standout piece that it's easy to build a lot of outfits around it.
Outfit 3:
Cool I decided to call this
the “cool” outfit because that midi swing skirt has such a great
1950s “cool daddy-o” vibe to it, very Pink Ladies from Grease and I love it!
This
skirt has been so wonderful, I have worn it weekly since I bought it.
It's just the right mix of fullness and flowy. Not too puffy, not
too flat and the color is bold, but it doesn't melt your eyes—by
the way, that's the perfect combination.
For
this outfit, I switched out the pearls for a chunky black necklace
and earrings set that I've had for ages because it works so well with
so many things. This
skirt came with a matching belt, but I thought that a black belt and
black heels would nicely bookend this skirt.
I
hope you've enjoyed today's post. Meet me right back here tomorrow
for our last day of this month's FemmeLuxe week.
